About Roof Direct: Owner-Led Roofing in Cape Town
Roof Direct is an owner-led roofing and waterproofing company based in Cape Farms, Cape Town. Andre Smit and his team replace, repair and maintain roofs, manage asbestos roof projects with our registered sister company, and waterproof and paint buildings for businesses, body corporates and homeowners. You deal with the same small team from inspection to sign-off.
Meet Andre Smit and Beverley
If a repair will do the job, I'll tell you. I won't sell you a new roof you don't need. Every building is different, and we'll find a way to make yours work. We're here for the long run, so we'd rather earn your trust than a quick sale.
Andre Smit started out as a waterproofer and has more than 20 years in the trade. What clients mention most is how thoughtful he is: he takes the time to understand your building and what you need, goes the extra mile on the details, and treats your project as if it were his own. If a job comes with special requirements, he'll find a way to make it work.
Andre is a family man, and Roof Direct is a family business, run by Andre with Beverley at his side. They work together: Andre looks after the roofs, and Beverley looks after you. When you call or send a quote request, you'll usually speak to Beverley, who takes calls and quote requests and arranges your inspection.
Our foreman, Randall Swarts
Randall Swarts brings 20+ years in the industry to every project. He runs the teams on site, so the person in charge of your job has seen it all before, from a single leaking valley to a full commercial re-roof.
How we work
- Free inspection. We look at the whole roof or area, usually within 48 hours, and take photos of what we find.
- An honest, itemised quote. Each part of the job is priced separately. If a repair will do, we'll say so.
- One point of contact. Andre Smit or Randall Swarts oversees the work, and you have one person to call throughout.
- Sign-off. We check the finished work with you and explain the guarantee that applies.

What we do
- Roofing: roof replacements, repairs and leak detection, gutters and fascias, insulation and maintenance plans.
- Asbestos roofs: removal, encapsulation and replacement, managed by us and carried out by our registered sister company.
- Waterproofing: flat roofs, box gutters, balconies, parapets and exterior walls.
- Painting: roof painting, and interior and exterior wall painting.
Guarantees and safety
Our workmanship is guaranteed for 2 years on most work, including new roofs and painting, and for 1 to 4 years on waterproofing, depending on the job. Manufacturers add their own guarantee on materials: up to 15 years on roofing materials and up to 10 years on paint, depending on the product. The terms for your job are set out in your quote.
