What we collect
When you request a quote we collect your name, phone number, email address (optional), property location, details about the work and any photos you choose to upload.
Why we use it
Only to respond to your request, arrange an inspection, prepare and follow up on your quote, and carry out work you ask us to do. Where asbestos work is involved, we share the relevant project details with our registered sister company, Indi Maintenance Services (Pty) Ltd, so they can carry out that work.
Who processes it for us
These companies handle information for us, only so we can provide our service:
- Netlify: hosts our website and receives quote form submissions on our behalf.
- GoDaddy (Microsoft 365): provides our email, where quote requests and our correspondence with you are kept.
- Google: Google Analytics, only if you accept cookies, and the Google reviews shown on our homepage (see below).
Some of these companies may store information outside South Africa, under their own privacy and security safeguards.
Google reviews on our website
Our homepage shows reviews of Roof Direct from Google Maps. To show them, our website asks Google for the reviews each time the section loads, and your browser loads the reviewers' profile pictures from Google. Google may receive your IP address and browser details when this happens. We don't store the reviews. Google's use of this information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy, and the reviews are provided under the Google Maps terms of service.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it:
- Enquiries that don't become a job: up to two years, then deleted.
- Clients we do work for: five years after the job is finished, because business records must be kept for tax purposes and to support any guarantee claim. Asbestos records kept by law for longer are held by the company that did that work.
Quote form submissions stored on our website host are deleted regularly, because a copy is kept in our email.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to us processing it, by emailing admin@roofdirect.co.za. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Cookies
We only use analytics cookies if you agree. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept Google Analytics cookies. If you say no, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google Analytics, and the website works the same.
If you accept, Google Analytics (provided by Google) uses cookies to measure how people use the site: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are, which device they use, and whether they send a quote request, tap to call or tap to WhatsApp us. We use this only to improve the website and understand which of our advertising works. We don't use it to identify you. Google may process this information outside South Africa under its own privacy policy.
